| 13. Even there's a reason, it's silver, it's gone. In this land of strangers, there are dangers... |
[Aug 3, 2008 * 2:49am] |
Well... that was a close call yesterday afternoon. We bloody TOLD them he needed more restraints than that - and I know I shouldn't have been there. I wonder if he knows who I am and who I'm mar
It's over now, at least. Either way you viewed it... I can't deny I'm just relieved it's over.
Warded Private: He had to have known about Remus and me, the way he... wonder if he could smell me or something. Or, obviously, he could just know my last name. Obviously he knows me as the Auror, but... I probably should have told Remus I'd be there, but I couldn't... not after what he went through, right? Besides, I wasn't the executioner, I wasn't so close he wouldn't have to get through some others first, but it's my job. I didn't hide it from him, I just didn't mention... I used to go on dangerous assignments every day, and sometimes still do. The life of an Auror... Not to mention the werewolf assignments mean a little more to me than others.
And he ruined my husband's bloody life.
Warded to Remus: Going into work for a few hours today to clean up some of yesterday's mess, love. Breakfast's on the counter, just needs to be heated on the stove a bit.
Public: In other news, I had a fantastic birthday a couple weekends ago (what with Remus looking quite fit in red hair) and Ron and Hermione, your wedding was brilliant! Having it in Hogwarts was so wicked, Teddy loved running around the halls and it was fantastic letting him know he'd be going to school there one day. He really couldn't get enough. I wonder what house he'll be in... I'd like to think Hufflepuff or Gryffindor of course, but you never know. My mum was a Slytherin and my dad a Ravenclaw, so really, anything's game. He's the epitome of Not-Slytherin, though.
And... working on Sundays should be illegal.

| 12. Fun ain't easy if it free, too many people got a hold on me... |
[Apr 23, 2008 * 5:49pm] |
Warded Private: This is not our week. Or Remus' more, rather. MERLIN. I cannot believe Mum. Taking Teddy?! I mean, it's not as if she kidnapped him but I feel like a right awful mum if my mum doesn't seem to think I'm keeping my son safe - from REMUS! She knows Remus know and she should also know I'm not a bloody idiot about him turning into an over-sized wolf a few nights a month. We take precautions and we have plenty of checks before either Teddy or I come into the room, and he's on Wolfsbane. It's him in that room, not a monster and Mum really need to just- bloody- UGH I can't stand it! Teddy shouldn't be taught to be afraid of his father. We're not sugar-coating anything, but I don't want him growing up thinking he has to be scared like Mum is once a month. Plus, he's OUR kid, NOT her's and I won't let her bloody do this again. This is what I was really worried about when Remus suggested she move in and now he probably feels awful... and now he's leaving to go find Greyback tomorrow.
It sounds like they think they really might get him this time. It'll be such a load off of everyone but especially Remus... he needs to go and I get that but it still makes me so nervous. I mean, I'm an Auror it's probably no worse, really, and if it weren't for Teddy I'd be right there with him on the mission, I'm sure. As it is though... it's Greyback. That's like if Bella was out there...
It'll be better if it's dealt with. And if my husband doesn't come back I'll bloody - he will. He's got to. This isn't the war anymore, this is...
Dammit, now I want to go back to being furious with my mum.
Warded to Wags and Charlie: Remus is going to be out of town for business for hopefully only a few days starting tomorrow... Who wants to give a mate a distraction some company at some point?
And my mum needs to stay out of my bloody business - I don't care if she's living here.
Warded to Remus: Feeling all right this morning, love?

| 11. Yes we're going to have a party, party |
[Apr 11, 2008 * 6:06pm] |

Yes, Jimmy Page could sadly say little more than 'blub blub' at us today which wasn't all that exciting, but Mum took Teddy to the park and he heard some of the various dogs chatting away. He seems to make great dog-conversation, actually. Which didn't help this wanting a dog phase at all. Oi, Teddy, this orange ink is awful.
I'm going to give Teddy back the quill in a second here, but I just wanted to say we're looking forward to the party tonight, and the Weasley family lunch for him tomorrow!
Warded to Remus: You know, it's almost a pity the full moon isn't tonight with this talking-animal thing.

| 10. You know it's good to get it on to get a load off your mind. Oh no, it ain't no crime. |
[Apr 4, 2008 * 4:01pm] |
So my mother's come to live with Remus and I so we have an in-house babysitter while the two of us are at work. Joy, right? Although you lot - don't think you're off the hook completely with Teddy. I'm sure my Mum will need nights off like the rest of us. Oh and Hestia thanks for taking him that week, he had a great time with Sophie, and he enjoyed lunch with you, Fleur!
What can I say about About the rumors... it's not as bad as some people are making it. But I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the happenings either. I don't know. Afraid I'm not at liberty to go into details, but if you have complaints or questions, do go on and send them the Scrimgeour himself. I'd like to see his desk all piled up with letters about being stupid
Warded to Remus: The office is hell today. Letters have been flooding into Kingley's office and of course I get to play the middle-woman between him and the rest of the world and most of the Aurors are furious as well but I can't both defend Kingsley and agree with them. Well I mean, it wasn't technically all Kingsley's decision, but as Head of the Auror department, who else are they going to point fingers at? And the thing is I don't particularly think Malfoy should have been let out. When I heard I ran to Kingley's office first thing and bugged him until he told me what the truth was and then I had to help escort the boy through the Ministry and he... well he looks awful of course but he sounded as if he expected to just go right bloody back to his big mansion and his Mummy and, Remus, I can't believe I'm related to these people! He's technically my first cousin!
But he was also just a kid... but the Unforgivables are that for a reason, right? And this whole thing scares me - he's probably one of the least harmful to let out but we've got to be consistent we can't do any slippery slopes and if his release lends itself to others? The Lestranges aren't dead... they're still there... and You-Know-Who or no, if they ever, EVER got released...
I don't like him living on the same street as my family, either.
Warded Private: And Mum's extra worried too. She owled me yesterday in the office demanding to know the truth and if I was all right and asking me not to take any assignments that had to do with any Azkaban releases. Um, Mum that's my job? But I know she's worried about Bellatrix...
Having Mum around has been an experience. Every weekend we've gone back to Surrey to continue going through Dad's things. Sometimes we've brought Teddy and I think he's going to miss that house. We were going through his record collection on Sunday and some had so much dust on them you could tell Mum just hasn't touched them since he died. I think we're going to rent a storage place for the ones we didn't immediately want so they stay in the right temperature - we're not selling them though, that's for sure. The money might be nice and he had some really valuable albums, actually, but I want them when Remus and I get a house someday. I'm giving them to Teddy when he's older, along with Dad's guitar, I think. He likes the drums so much, maybe he's more musically-inclined than I gave him credit for.
We are going to have to sell some stuff though, it's unrealistic to think otherwise. Mum was sad about a lot of the furniture, saying she'd hoped it would help me when I got a house someday, but Dad dying so soon changed all that. And... well, no offense, Dad, but the shag carpet is not going to enter any home of mine, never ever ever. Along with the burnt orange armchair he loved. Gross, Dad. ... actually I don't think Mum was too sad to see those particularly "vintage" pieces go either.
It's been hard, but we're getting through it with relatively few emotional break-downs. It has been almost six years. But it feels like Mum's just now being forced to deal with it... or deal with it again... or something.
At least she hasn't driven me completely nutters yet. She's not sure she likes certain things we do in terms of handling Teddy, and she babies him a bit more than I think he likes - but then she takes him out for ice cream so she's obviously the "Best Gran Ever". Oh well. She's been nothing but cordial and friendly to Remus too, which is great... we'll just have to see about the full moon.

| 9. I need to laugh, and when the sun is out - I've got something I can laugh about. |
[Mar 26, 2008 * 6:07pm] |
[written in messier, shaky handwriting, with spilled ink here or there]
Oh Merlin - I was - going to write about Mum - moving in - and - being Mum - and - going through Dad's stuff - at my house - and - I can't - STOP - LAUGHING.
Remus - I'll be home - when I can, we're on - lockdown - just another reason - to hate office work and - oh god it hurts AND I KEEP SNORTING Mum will - make dinner! MERLIN - I thought I was clumsy BEFORE!

| 8. Mama's gonna keep you right here under her wing, she won't let you fly but she might let you sing |
[Mar 17, 2008 * 9:03pm] |
So Teddy and I have decided to sport green hair today in celebration and I was able to get home around three. Mum sent me a bottle of my uncle's favourite ale, as Dad never had much in the house - like me, Dad wasn't much good to anyone after a few pints anyway. So I figure while being a Mum and not being able to go out and get pissed off my rocker like some mates of mine are surely doing, Remus and I are having a right good time with our glasses of ale here at the flat and having gone out so Teddy could see the leprechauns (at more of a distance than he probably wanted) this afternoon. Plus we've charmed Teddy's juice green so it matches all the other 'green juice' being sold today on the lane. He thinks it's wicked. I'm probably setting myself up for something awful in the future, but I'll deal with that when the time comes.
Warded Private: So... along with Sirius' ale, came a response to my owl. It looks like after much thought, Mum thinks that coming to live with us probably is the best option, as much as she's going to have trouble going through everything at the house. But with Mum's savings added to Remus' extra income, we'll be comfortable enough to have her live here and help with Teddy along with going to her house every weekend and sorting through things. I mean, Mum did it with Dad's most precious stuff already, but there's a bunch of... well, junk, really that will probably harder to throw away than it should be.
Merlin... it's like the year after Dad died all over again, dealing with this. At least I can handle it better this time. And Mum living here won't be so bad, will it? I mean, she'll drive me mad on occasion, but that's Mum. I just hope the werewolf thing doesn't get in the way. I swear if she makes such a big deal of it that things get tense, I'm... I'm... having words. I can't really kick her out, can I. But I'm not having Teddy see his Grandma be frightened of his Dad. Course, Mum's gotten a lot better... but the first full moon's already coming up. I need to talk to Remus about whether we need her to come as soon as possible or if we should wait until next week when that's done with... that's kind of a rot position to put all of us in, no matter who's in the right and the wrong.
But Remus has a point - even if it's hard, if it means Mum's not alone anymore, I'm willing to go with it. And she's really the only other person I'd trust completely, utterly, and fully with Teddy other than Remus. Harry's up there - but Friday night's even shaken me of that. It's not that I dislike that he's with this Wendy Roper girl or that they're serious enough to be practically living together (apparently?) and all that, that's both none of my business and makes me happy he's happy. But it's that you ask the parents if company is all right during babysitting. It's just polite and courteous - and honestly? I was kind of hoping that it'd be time for just Harry and Teddy to be together and catch up since it'd been awhile since he'd seen his Godfather. Oh well. I know Remus has talked to him about it so it shouldn't be an issue again.
Full moon starting Thursday. Hope Remus doesn't have problems getting the time off he needs for it. If Bletchley gives him hell, I will not be happy.
Warded to Hestia and Fleur: Hey, loves! I have a favour to ask - my mum's going to be staying with us soon to start taking care of Teddy during the day because Remus has gotten a job with the Ministry, but would either or both of you be willing to take Teddy during the days this week until we can get my mum moved in this weekend? I hate to ask because you all have your OWN kids to deal with, but our usual evening babysitters all have their important day-training or jobs, etc.
And don't be afraid to say no - if that's the case, I could probably arrange to drop him off at the Burrow every morning, but as much as I'd love Molly... well, you know how she is.

| 7. It's so scary in a house that allows no swearing... |
[Mar 10, 2008 * 5:10pm] |
Warded to Wags, Remus can see: All right, Wags, here's your chance to prove yourself a babysitter. Remus and I are going to go out to dinner, like I told you, we should only be gone for two hours or so. Then Ginny will take over
Because I don't want to spend loads of time telling you this at our flat, AND I want you to have it in written for to remember:
1. No girls. No Kirley. Orsinos are allowed. 2. No alcohol - yeah, we have some things in the cupboard, but don't drink it in front of Teddy, please? 3a. No junk food for dinner - I've got macaroni and chickeny bits in the icebox for you to just heat up for dinner, and the instructions for that are on the counter. 3b. If the above fails miserably - there's cereal or sandwich makings in the kitchen as well. Teddy can tell you how he likes his sandwiches. Just ignore the "and chocolate" he adds to the end of his ingredients lists. I'll give you the tour when you get here. 4. Teddy gets his two squares of chocolate IF he finishes his dinner properly every night. 5. No porn. 6. No smoking or anything else. 7. No playing drums on anything BESIDES the drums. 8. Contrary to what you might have dealt with with a dog - Teddy is completely potty trained, mate. Although if he starts doing a dance, you might need to encourage him to quit stalling. 9. No films on the telly above U or PG, all right? 10. Records and music shouldn't make the neighbors yell or complain - as much fun as that is. 11. No alcohol. 12. No Kirley. 13. No sex-talk. 14. No cursing, if it can be helped. 15. Emergency contacts are on the counter all nice and neat - my mum will know exactly what to do in pretty much any situation, and there's a first aid kit under the sink. You know a bit of first aid, right? 16. The Weasley twins don't count as emergency contacts, even if all other Weasleys do. 17. Teddy SHOULDN'T give you much trouble, he's not too prone to tantrums to anyone except his parents and even then it's rare these days. He may, however, try and trick you with shape-shifting, and if so, tell him that you know the shifting rules and you'll tell his Mum if he doesn't listen.
I'd give you the shifting rules but they're embarrassing and long. You can scare him though by saying Rule 1 is to Stay Teddy.
Think you can handle all that? We'll be back and have Ginny take over before he needs to go to bed or anything, but if he manages to wear himself out, just pop in some music or a cartoon, or even better have him go grab a book to read and he'll be pretty content.
Any questions, mate? Come around five?

| 6. So you say it's your birthday... we're gonna have a good time. |
[Mar 10, 2008 * 2:00pm] |

|
| 5. Your time's up and me too, I'm out on account of you... |
[Mar 3, 2008 * 5:34pm] |
Warded to the Weird Sisters (and Remus can see): Myron Wagtail - you're either the most annoyingly frustrating mate a lady can have, or you're one of the best. We had a brilliant time on Friday night and it's all thanks to you. Merlin - we hardly knew what to DO at such luxurious places. Finally made me glad for Mum's old etiquette lessons, though. And your Mum was great with Teddy. She's told him stories about his Mummy as a schoolgirl and apparently they were pretty entertaining. I've already owled her so many thanks, but please tell her as well, yeah? And I'd love to see her again when she's ot obligated to take care of my son. I hope she wasn't lying when she said he was fairly well-behaved for the evening?
And all of you - I'd like to take this moment to say HA! I can't be used as anyone's false girlfriend anymore! As much as I cherished that important duty when I was younger, I think your Mum got suspicious after Myron and I actually attempted dating. But now I'm off the hook, aren't I! And I hope you all realise you've picked girls who are barely in their twenties. You know I won't give you any rubbish about it because I can hardly talk... but just be ready to defend that to her. I mean, Merton, you're fine and all, but... keep that in mind, you lot.
And - I want to have you all over for dinner one night, so, let me know when your schedules free and I'll serve you my fabulous take-out thai food. Weekends are the best for me though, because I'm not much company after a long day at work.
Warded to Remus: I'm working late again tonight, love. I'm so sorry... I should be home by eight unless but. I love you. And I'm sorry for being emotional or clingy or anything last night after we got back from the Weasley dinner, it was just... stressful with the mirrors yesterday and Teddy... and my reflection when I was getting ready for bed said you're not there anymore at You feel healthy, right? I mean you're not old and I looked old in that so it's going to be a long time but I still
I love you so much.
Warded to Women fake-dating the Weird Sisters: Hey, ladies. I've known those boys since school and making a good impression on Wags' mum is a pretty important deal to them, so, just thought I'd answer any questions that might make it less awkward.
Warded to Weasleys & Co. Thanks for having us for your birthday dinner, Ron! And all of you, thank your Mum for me again, would you? THanks to her I've got leftovers for the men to eat for a few days this week. That is, since the Weasley kids weren't complete pigs this time around. So thanks for that too.
